Hello and happy Monday! I know it’s been a little while since my last post , but even though wedding planning is a crazy detail-oriented planning extravaganza, most of the nitpicky stuff isn’t that interesting! I’m saving my “Morgan Mondays” for the fun things that require dazzling photos!
Wedding Accessories
When I first started contemplating my “bridal look”, it consisted of a fabulous dress, elegant hair and makeup, and of course a pair of shoes Cinderella would be jealous of. However, when I started poring through Style Me Pretty and Ruffled for inspiration, I noticed the most stunning brides were the ones whose accessories were a beautiful extension of their overall look; that hair combs and sparkly belts were the key to a pulled-together bride.
Hair Accessories
There are far too many things to put in your hair nowadays. Between headbands, hair clips, embellished bobby pins, barrettes, tiaras, and not to mention veils (which I’ll be posting about later!) it’s easy to get lost in a tidal wave of rhinestones.
Before I started looking, I had to remind myself how I’ll be coiffed on the day-of. It’s a swept back, bouffant-style updo with a large, curled bun down by the nape of my neck. Then I thought of my dress: it’s all about modern romance. So something sparkly that can be tucked in or put on without being the focal point is my goal. These picks are my favorites:
Vintage Rhinestone hair combs transform this sculptured, sweeping ‘do into a work of art. It adds some elegance and interest to an already pretty ensemble.
A fun rhinestoned comb is a festive choice, but also adds some bling in the back! I could tuck this into my curled bun and dance the night away!
A bejeweled headband is one of my favorites: it works at every angle. Shimmering beneath a veil, visible from the back, front, and sides, it’s a fancy way to shine.
Fabulous Bridal Belts
This is a super-modern take on the bridal belt, and I love it! Giant gems just scream Kate Spade to me, and you know how much I love Kate. I’d worry that it might be too whimsical for my evening wedding, but it’s still a contender!
BHLDN always wows with its accessories and dresses that are outside of the box beautiful. This “bow” belt is just the right amount of shimmer in the front, but I’m not sure if it will get lost amongst all the tulle!
The last one is definitely a winner: lots of rhinestones equal lots of shine! I tried on a similar one when buying my dress and it made such a difference in the look of the dress!
So many choices to make, and the summer already slipping away – I know my wedding date is going to creep up on me before I know it!
xoxo- Morgan
