I am so honored to be a wedding photographer today, in this point of history and celebrating the SCOTUS decision for gay marriage. Because love is love. Because gay marriage is marriage. Because we are all people. Because we are all equal. Because it is not just about who we want to love, or love itself or even marriage. Because it is not a choice. But because it is a human and civil right. Because everyone has to have the right to love another, to commit their life to another, and to declare that openly. Because no one is more important than anyone else, and ultimately, everyone is equal, everyone is as important as the other person and love is love.
I never thought this day would come. Originally from a religious country, I have watched my own family members – people I love; hide their lives, their love and who they are just to make everyone else happy. And even worse, to survive. I have watched them lie, compromise and even escape to another country to just be able to breathe and life the life they are meant to live. I have watched them struggle and fight. I would never want that torment and pain on another person. Today I grabbed my cellphone in overwhelming happiness as I read about the SCOTUS decision.
I am so absolutely, gloriously happy and exuberant. Today’s decision brought tears in my eyes and so much hope for the future. So much gratitude for everyone that has made this day possible. I believe in love, as cheesy and as old fashioned as that is, and I do believe love trumps all. So much love to all my clients, past and future, to all people out there that can celebrate this momentous day joyously, apologetically and unabashedly. Together, we can show the world what equality is, what being a human means and what love is.
All lives matter and all love matters.
