CornerStone Sonoma
Yearning for a venue that’s as flexible as your wedding theme? CornerStone Sonoma has that magical mixture of modern and rustic with gorgeous lush grounds, endless art-filled gardens, and multiple locations for ceremony and reception. The wine country of California is already a hot spot for local and destination brides, and this venue offers it all.
From the website:
“Cornerstone Gardens is an ever-changing series of walk-through gardens, showcasing new and innovative designs from the world’s finest landscape architects and designers. The first such gallery-style gardens in the United States, the nine-acre Cornerstone Gardens was created as an inspiration and resource for people interested in gardens, garden design and art.
Inspired by the International Garden Festival at Chaumont-sur-Loire in France, Cornerstone Gardens aims to create a cultural and creative haven, celebrating the connection between art, architecture and nature. The gardens contribute to the art, philosophy and future of garden design; they focus on themes and ideas, establishing or uncovering new directions in garden design and art. Continually in a state of evolution, some garden installations will be in place for a season, while others will remain for several seasons.
In addition to individual gardens by select landscape architects and designers, a book is available for sale on site that provides information on the designers and the process of creating each of their installations.
In addition to the shops and gardens, Cornerstone hosts educational seminars on landscape architecture and garden design, as well as related special events.”
Modern Rustic Wedding Venue
Firstly, there are the three main locations that are designated for ceremony and reception. We’ve seen so many creative uses of these spaces – we love each one of them!
A custom designed 50- foot Zephyr tent with removable walls stands in the middle of the “Wedding Garden”, where your guests can dine outdoors in the oft-perfect summer climate of wine country, sip on cocktails, or have a large outdoor lounge area. If you’re looking for a crisp, white backdrop to an alfresco meal under the stars, you’ve found the perfect spot.
The “Garden Barn” is a large beamed building with all the rustic charm that barns bring. Fill it with long tables for a beautiful dining room, reserve it for dancing and shenanigans, or even use it as a ceremony spot! Most of its giant doors open to transform the space and let in some air – all the better for dancing!
If you’re looking for a picturesque ceremony spot, the “Vineyard Lawn” is CornerStone’s vast lawn adjacent to its many gardens. Tucked away from prying eyes and nestled against vines and beautiful ponds, you can truly make this customizable spot fit any wedding theme.
Why We Love Photographing Here
There are endless reasons, but the gardens have to be the biggest one. If you’re yearning for avant-garde backdrops for some seriously amazing portraits, there is no place better. CornerStone’s amazing gardens are full of artist’s installations and landscaping work that will simultaneously wow you and raise some amazing artistic and philosophical questions (great cocktail hour ice breakers?). This means there is no end to the fun textures and interesting structures you can incorporate into your wedding photos.
We also love how versatile this venue is – it would fit the modern bride just as easily as the rustic or vintage bride, and the people at CornerStone are also so willing to make your day amazing.
If you’re wondering if this is the venue for you, go visit! There are amazing art-filled shops, multiple tasting rooms, and a restaurant offering fabulous local fare. Go play bocce ball (the court is open every day!) and sip some wine while enjoying the Sonoma beauty. It really is a wonderful place to host your big day.
And if you do decide to get married at CornerStone, call us! We love shooting at this artistic venue!
